OT: Digital Camera Data Recovery Posted by MI-Roger [Email] ![]() ![]() |
My Dept Head was lamenting today about the screw-up he committed over the holidays with his digital camera. Apparently after changing the camera batteries, and taking one test shot to verify operation of the camera, he deleted the entire memory card contents thinking he was deleting his one test photo.
His wife informed him shortly thereafter that the card contained nearly 500 photos from their Thanksgiving Vacation to Cabo San Lucas. Oops!
I told him the photos were probably still on the card and that he just needed someone to perform Data Recovery on the memory card. A quick internet search revealed the following link which I shared with the Dept Head. A free download will display all photos which are recoverable, a $40 fee for the actual recovery tool allows you to retrieve the "lost" photos. There may be freeware or shareware available to do the same thing.
The website identifies over 11,000 downloads of the software in just the past week so a lot of people must be making the same error. Just thought I would share in case this can help someone.
Has anyone here used this or a similar program? Do these programs work well?
