This scam is annoying because I am actually directly losing money. I listed an item for sale on eBay during a promo period when it was cheaper to list. A few days before the auction ended someone in the UK bid. eBay pulled the listing detecting a problem where the buyers account was hacked.

I contacted the UK buyer to verify and got an email saying an e-check for more than the amount has been paid pending delivery to non other than Nigeria. Don't the scammers realize this country's name is a red flag at this point?

While eBay refunded the listing fees, I can't relist at the same cost and I missed the last few days when there would likely have been a legitimate buyer. I also now have to wait as I like to list for 7 days.

Why can't we just sanction Nigeria until this stops.
