It looks Saab-ish enough from the front, but

what bugs me is the tiny greenhouse ---specifically the tiny, short side windows. It's one of the things that will get me not to even consider some cars. The greenhouse on the 9-4 photos just looks too small and out of proportion to the height of the car. I hope it's better in the "flesh."
The "glass to body ratio" is important in car design. To see what I mean, look at a 9000 or even a 9-5 (especially the wagon). On the 9K the side glass is about 1/3 the overall height of the car (not too unusual for Giorgetto Guigiaro, the designer) It's a bit less on the 9-5. Also look at older designs like the BMW 2002 or the Volvo 740/940 wagons. This is a personal preference issue, but I think it's a real factor in how a balanced car looks, especially when viewed from multiple angles.
It also makes a big difference in the outward visibility, for both short and tall drivers. The 9-4 looks as if the side windows will come up to the necks of short drivers, limiting their view outside, especially to the rear and over the right shoulder, and could make the car seem claustrophobic.
This is a common design or style these days. Unfortunately, it makes cars look more alike than not, in my opinion. Having more door (steel) and less glass is no doubt a side impact safety thing, but it does nothing for me.
E85 BioPower is another issue. Not sure it makes sense. A good turbo-diesel would be better choice, at least at the moment.
