http://www.toptiergas.com
Take this with a grain of salt.
First anmajor issue: This domain is owned by the phantom company "National Products Group" with only a P.O. Box listed. This name was obviously chosen to hide the real ownership of the domain. However, a reverse check on the phone number shows that it's actually Quik Trip Gas - the first retailer listed as meeting the top tier standards. Funny, huh?
Secondly, read the text carefully. No specific endorsement is made by the auto manufacturers. Even the page with the "standards" listed is taken totally out of context and has little meaning that way. It's there only to look impressive and make the site look legit. it has no meaning to the lay person nor should it be given any weight when taken out of context.
Third, read the carefully chosen language on the home page. Nowehere is there specific auto manufacturer endorsement of anything stated here. There are lots of inferences on the site, no specific statements.
Fourth, if this was all that crucial to auto manufacturers, I would think that they'd mention it somehow when you buy a car. I haven't noticed it in any literature.
Lastly, there's no independent testing here. All we see is that the listed retailers have met the additive standards - and likely paid in to be listed here. There's no independent testing to tell us what gasolines meet what standards across the board.
