Sad to say, but with today's gas prices, I think Americans might even start to look at the efficient French cars again! As a Peugeot 405 Mi16 owner, and a frequent traveler to Europe for work and family, I see so many great European cars we can't get. Ford Mondeo and new Focus, Renault Laguna and Espace, Peugeot 407 sedan, wagon and coupe, 307CC and 207 GTI, all the new Alfas... Don't forget the Saab 1.9 TTiD twin turbo diesel, that gets 45 mpg!
American perception of these cars is stilll based the Renault Le"Crap", Alliance and Fuego...they've come a LONG way since then, and probably further than a lot of American cars have.. And any of them is preferable from a driver's enjoyment perspective to our Chevy's and Buicks!
Make sure to enjoy some of the local wine (cheap 6-10 Euro bottles are all you need) and the great cheeses. French country cooking is pretty hard to beat!
Cheers,
Paul H.
