Hypothetically, I definitely would not be buying a GM vehicle. I don't consider myself a GM owner anyway, since my 9000 was made before GM owned 100% of Saab. But, I wouldn't lower myself to Saturn standards (yes I have been in new ones, and no I don't think they are comparable to Saab/Volvo/BMW/Audi) and I'm too young for a Caddy. I know Caddy isn't just for the elderly anymore, but hey, I'm turning 23, not 43. Incidentally, I have had several opportunities to buy a newer Saab (9-3, 9-5, 9-3SS), but have chosen to keep my trusty 9k going instead. The only new Saab that I currently would consider is the Turbo X or a convertible.
If GM were to ditch Saab, I certainly can't blame them. I know that the brand probably isn't worth it to keep running, but there must be some value-added aspect to it, or the managerial accountants wouldn't allow it to keep going or to keep coming out with new stuff (Turbo X, 9-4X, etc.)
If the unfortunate occurred and Saab wasn't sold to another company, I guess I'd probably turn to BMW or Audi. Maybe even Volvo if the deal was right. Although if Alfa ever came back to the US, I would be first in line!!
