One has to wonder if building Saabs here will help the price/value relationship since there would be less dependence on the kroner and the euro. Some of that will depend on sourcing of many parts. Based on sticker prices, Saabs can seem expensive for what you get these days, but that's largely a reflection of the euro/dollar imbalance. Building here can fix some of that.
What I worry about if they are made here is the quality of materials, the trend toward decontenting we've seen in recent years, and if too much is shared between other brands.
The article doesn't say it, but maybe GM realizes what we all know, that the combo of economical 4 cylinders with turbochargers is what a lot of people are really looking for these days, even though they don't realize it. A recent TV for the '9-3 'vert highlights this, so let's hope for the best.
