Need help for Mac/PC HD compatibility (slightly long)

Hi, hopefully the collectively wisdom of this board can help me.

I wanted to download 250GB of video files from a Mac server to view with my PC laptop (WinXP). I purchased a 500GB external HD (Seagate) and had the IT person download the files.

First issue, the Mac could not write to the HD (learned it was preformatted NTFS - PC only). He reformatted the HD and saved the files. I was unable to see the drive/files on my PC,second issue. I downloaded MacDrvie trial and learned that he formatted the HD into HSFJ (Mac only). I had him reformat to FAT 32 as that is supposed to be readible by both systems, and I would not be able to format larger than 32GB with a PC. So he reformated to FAT 32, saved the files. I tried with my PC again and still cannot see the drive. Tried MacDrvie again and still no luck, only way to see it is through computer management and it only shows as the Seagate drive with no file structure/information, etc.

Any thoughts on how I can get my PC to recognize the external HD and the files?

I even tried using a utility called Microsoft's Tweak Uninstall utility program to select my drive, but all drive letters were already selected so that did nothing.
