I recently installed Akebono ceramics on the front of my 2000 Wagon.
After pressure flushing the system, I feared that my master cylinder was leaking. The mushy pedal would slowly sink to the floor.
After bedding in the pads, the sinking sensation stopped.
I thought that it might have been the result of applying multiple coats of
anti-vibration goop to the backs of the pads. I thought it possible that the viscous goop was responsible for the "sinking sensation". After a few heating /cooling cycles the goop baked itself hard and no longer was squishy. I'm sure I applied too much goop, as some dripped on the wheel and is nicely vitrified and resisting all efforts to remove it. Some here had reported squeeling with that Pad, so I had a heavy hand with the goop.
I'm not sure I like the Akebono's. As mentioned, they are not as aggressive as the stock pads, but they do stop well and don't seem to fade. But I could not tolerate them on my SPG. The "Big Brakes" feel of the PBR pads on that car is much more satisfying
Give your brakes a cautious break-in, you're likely OK.
Mike
