What's wrong with my Comcast hi-speed internet?

I am having signal problems, every other damn day I get the blinking ready light on my modem meaning that its not getting a strong enough signal. I had the repair guy come out and "fix" it, $50 later it wasn't working that night. It has been sooooo intermittent, and every time I call customer service I have to wait at least 30 minutes before I can talk to anyone which never helps because they don't know a damn thing and tell me that I have to get a new modem, or have the repair guy come out and look at it. The last person told me that the problem was with my 3-way splitter - I also run a T.V. off this line too. Well, when the guy was out here to fix it a couple weeks ago he installed a new splitter so it should have been fine, but I bought the most expensive, best splitter that Best Buy has to offer...and THE PROBLEM IT NOT SOLVED! Now, if I take the splitter out of the equation and just run the cable directly into the modem I have no problems EVER. Does this mean that the 3-way is causing a big enough drop to disrupt the serve, i.e. Comcast is being stingy with the voltage running through their cable system?
Please help, I am ready to start throwing hammers at people.
