check the PCV or Saab lingo "check valve" on the top of the valve cover. you can just pull the fitting out of the valve cover (carefully - they are brittle) and let it vent to the air for a test run, maybe 15-30 minutes to see if there is any change? If it's better take that fishing bobber looking valve and blow air thru it from on end and then from the other. It should *freely* pass air from one side and not at all from the other. Not passing freely (it's getting clogged up) or not passing at all, or passing from both ends means replacement. you can really use just about any PCV like valve, but the general auto parts guys get wrapped around the axle, the c900 doesn't have a "PCV" valve, but does have a "check valve"... just take the thing in and get a smilar valve.
Also the O2 sensor may be suspect, there is a test by swedecar about measureing the voltage sweep but IIRC the O2 sensor doesn't play until the car is warmed up so that may not be it either?
have you looked at the plugs to see if they are likewise black sooty like? If they are not then you have a problem on the exhaust end of the system (which was the first test above to see if the crankcase was getting presurized - if it was then often oil is forced past the turbocharger seal from the lub side to the exhaust side).
So if the plugs look ok, and the timing is good, and the aircleaner is new, and the cap and rotor look good, then the next suspect may be the turbocharger. you can check play on the turbo by taking the pipes off on the intake side, then reach in and grasp the impeller and try to push pull in out and also up and down and front back. they will be some play but not alot is better. also if some play try to hold in the maximum direction and turn the impeller to see if it scrapes any? lots of play, and certainly scraping, would tend towards a failed oil seal inside the turbo. Not a for sure but leaning that way. How many miles total, how many have you put on it, what oil brand and how often do you change it? the 1985's were oil cooled only so being strick with oil changes was a better thing than the 1988 and later that added water cooling too.
