That's an interesting angle I hadn't thought of. I read in the NYT that the Japanese automakers are nervous about GM et al going down because of the effect it would have on the suppliers they share. I'd have to believe there was pressure on the US to not let them fail from the other countries that would be affected, like the ones you listed. Between the ice storm here (last night 76% of the city without power) and the economy I feel like I'm on another planet.....
