First of all, your argument makes no sense. You imply that driving with alloy wheels in the winter will damage them. B Millar's wheels were not damaged while driving. Therefor, you aren't even addressing the situation. What does the tires being winter tires have to do with what happened? This is a case of a tire shop damaging a customer's wheels and not of a car owner neglecting their wheels and ruining them through abuse.
I think that some people are more than willing to buy a set of winter alloys for their Saab. If you're allowed to think they're idiots for wasting their money, they're allowed to think your car looks terrible with steelies on it. You call me when an alloy wheel fails due to being used in the winter. I've never heard of such a thing. Sure, steel is perfectly sufficient, but it's a matter of personal preference.
Anyway, are you telling me that if B Millar had been mounting summer tires to his 17" Aero wheels this wouldn't have happened? You put forth a great effort to convince someone to do something that is irrelevant to the discussion at hand. Whether they're winter tires or not, the guy's wheels were damaged when the tires were put on. That's not cool.
