We have an '03 Linear wagon. Last August we packed five people (2 adults and 3 full size kids) into the beast with all our stuff for a week and drove 550 miles to Nova Scotia. I added up all our weight and we were pretty much maxed out on what the car could carry--around 850 pounds. The car rode and handled fine, but the rear shocks did bottom slightly on a few bumps. If it was winter and we had ski and snowboard gear it would have been seriously overloaded.
The car worked fine for this trip, but if we were doing it all the time I'd want a bigger rig. But the car holds about as much as the Explorer we had previously. But it ain't an SUV.
