Glad you like the stuff I do!
Lots of things have been covered but my best tip is to invest in top quality installation work, whatever the furniture is. If the carcases go in absolutely level, and everything gets screwed together dead square, it will last for years. If you just throw the units at the wall and try to adjust out your errors by tweaking the hinges you are doomed to live with your mistakes.
Having said that, with big cabinets it's often a good idea to allow a little wiggle room so you can square them up once the doors are on.
Pet hates, in no particular order: doors made with a "foil" that looks like paint or wood but is actually plastic one micron thick. Carcase boards made of compressed breakfast cereal. Cheap screws (I will not even re-use a screw if I can possible help it). Idiot "tray spaces" and fillers that make up for a decent range of unit sizes. Raw, unfinished edges (though good quality ply can look great without lipping). Drawer runners that don't pull all the way out. And tiled work surfaces on anything made after about 1975...
