To the OP: Most batteries go five to seven years before they die. If you live in an area that goes cold (below 30) in the Winter, I might replace at six years. I would not do it before that without a reason.
My personal preference is for DieHards as the warranty support is great. I know someone else who went with Bosch, which is a repackaged brand. There are only three companies making auto batteries AFAIK, the rest are just labels. Note that the specs might still vary.
Also, note that the Saab takes an "International" battery by spec (group 91). That means that it has a ventilation tube to vent the gases. However, I've yet to see any place in a Saab to hook up the vent tube to. Some cars actually have a vent system in place that you hook the battery tube into. So, with the Saab, you pay quite a bit extra to get the vent and then it makes little difference. A Group 48 is the same dimensions AFAIK w/o the vent tube and usually costs a whole lot less.
