Driving the 9-2 for me was far more WRX than anything else. Subarus make me think of either lesbians in Maine wearing plaid flannel & wide whale corduroy or maxwell house can exhausts and colored neon under the body carriage in LA. Irreconcilable differences for my brain because neither makes me smile while Im driving.
The argument I hear in my head revolves around the same issues horsey and dog people get cranky over: purity of bloodlines. Since the cars cant just mate and genetically reproduce, the legacy brand engineers and managers on either side who most refuse to budge on any given issue would be the ones who dominate future model design specifications. And that always makes me worry about Lowest Commmon Denominator corporate decision making. Personally, I dont want a car designed for the masses. I want a car designed to make me happy. Give me Quality, Safety, Torque, Give me Turbocharged!
GM has been designing bland boring lackluster shoddy things on wheels for decades and I am regularly disgusted with fit & finish when I have to sit in one of their butt ugly unsafe crap cars as a passenger and always worry that my knees may never make it out whole from a crash of any kind. Asia's yawn worthy appliances on wheels with blue neon dashes dont make me feel any safer on the road either frankly. Its a quandry.
