I don't know how it works on the Motorola, but on my Parrot it had two power supply wires. One for a constant 12v and another for 12v supplied only with the key ON. The constant power keeps the memory and settings alive while the car is off I think. Any chance you swapped the wires? Or didn't connect the constant 12v? That is if the Motorola is set up like the Parrot...
