Very much so. It's a very GM dichotomy, at least in the first gen cars... so much is very right with it, but there are clearly areas where it's not up to snuff. The transmission isn't nearly as nice as BMW and the interior materials are not as nice as most of its competitors... both were addressed and possibly corrected with the 2nd gen cars. I feel there are features missing that a car in its price range should have - more adjustments for the seats, better features in the stereo/nav unit; again, compared to a BMW it's lackluster there. Fit and finish is very good, and everything is certainly functional and works well, so unless you're the type that really needs brushed aluminum and exotic wood dashes, there isn't much to actually complain about. The suede seats are nice - they're grippy without being sport seats, and nice for high speed cruising, which is does really, really well.

The things that are important to me - actual driving dynamics, comfort, and big smoky burnouts - are all present and accounted for. I've only done about 2000 miles in - some local stuff, a couple shortish road trips - and it's every bit as exciting now as when I bought it. It has excellent presence on the road - I think the CTS has aged very well, and those who know what the V is for love seeing it. "That's the one with the Corvette motor, right?" gets asked frequently.

The little "I wish" details are so unimportant when you're using it as intended (which, I believe, is embarrassing S4s and M3s) I couldn't care less about a slightly rubbery shifter (I mean, I drive Saabs, soo...) and lack of a Bluetooth-ready stereo. The fact that it demolishes a friend's 350Z in both a straight line and on the curves while seating four in comfort is exactly the reason I bought it.

Well, that and the fact that those really hot materialistic girls like big black Cadillacs. :D
