Any company that is trying to position itself for purchase does many things to make it more attractive to a potential buyer. One of them is reducing inventory (parts in this example). The manufacturer stops manufacturing replacement parts so to reduce operating costs as well as keeping valuable parts in inventory which makes the balance sheet look better at the end of day.

I was at my Saab dealer speaking to the parts manager and he told me that he was under direct order NOT to stock parts in inventory as they didn't know what Saab's fate would be. He stated that they were not only NOT stocking parts in inventory that would have normally been stocked, the time it is taking to get parts from Saab/GM had become borderline absurd.

I have a list of parts I need for my 2001 9-3, and I'm scared to think how long some of them will take to get stocked.
