No argument from me on the fact that electrical systems should just plain work. I suppose that the only wiggle room that would give a car company is in all-new applications. Someone paid a premium for some car companies to learn how to make a good anti-lock brake system... and they got troublesome ABS systems. (This makes me think of the TCS system in the 9000s... at least Saab learned how not to do it, right?)
