I live in Columbus and go to the area regularly.
As far as Saab service, there is no doubt that Just Saab (with locations in Dayton / Centerville and Cincinnati) is a superb Saab dealer. Unlike the franchise 20 minutes from my home, Just Saab being 90 minutes away is where I go. They know the brand, their mechanics don't say "huh, what's that" when you say you are brining a classic 900 to them and Saab is all they do, period. I've purchased a 9-5 Aero and a 9-3 Aero from them in the past 3 years.
I concur with the other opinions of Dayton and the suburbs. Dayton downtown is dying. I-75 through downtown is under constant construction and is a huge bottleneck. In fact the entire drive from / to Dayton and Cincinnati on I-75 can be excrutiating. There are very nice suburbs east, south and west. And most definitely if you have the slightest interest in aviation, the Air Force Museum is incredible.
Best of luck.
