You could get the $ 15 credit now, and put it towards a trickle charger, which is sounds like you might need. Maintain the battery when not installed with the trickle charger, so it's always ready to go.
Years ago, I bought one of the "brick" style (AC plug, DC leads, 2 LEDs, and no user serviceable parts in side, and no way to get to them, if there were...) chargers for my Mom's C900S. She plugs the car in when she parks it (she doesn't drive much any more...), and it's been years (going on ten, I believe), and no battery problems (and the same battery!). I also had one on my C900 turbo Convertible.
One thing you don't want to do at all is leave a battery on a concrete floor. Put it on a shelf, workbench, or at least a thick plank of wood. For whatever reason, they last a LOT longer that way.
