Very few of the suggested sites are US based. I subscribe to the Economist (UK) for a timely world news publication, my local daily paper is now available only two days per week, and the suggestions offered to Dean's question are almost exclusively non North American. Sole exception being the NYTimes.
Sad. Is it any wonder my wife, who has been working in local elementary schools for 15 years, says each year's entering class is dumber than the preceding year's class? The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, and the parents are clearly being denied access to information regarding world events and intelligent discussion.
