One part of my business is writing and reporting. Every meeting or event you go to as a "reporter" has a bunch of angles. Being able to report accurately and tell a story that embodies the facts requires the writer to have a solid understanding of what he/she is seeing and hearing. Most don't, are lazy, will take the easiest way out. And they get a lot of things wrong. Sometimes it's even deliberate.

This is NOT an excuse, just the way it works. Unfortunately the "news as entertainment" factor overwhelms the need to get a story out on a deadline. Accuracy and good reporting is sadly becoming a rare commodity.

And no, I didn't study journalism or major in English.
