Lost Saab deal may have redeeming aspects

Just saw the WSJ news alert on the failed Saab deal. There may be some short-term good news in that, even if the info is correct and GM kills the brand, current Saab dealers will continue as the servicing organizations. At least I believe that's the case: As I recall, the law requires GM to produce parts for 10 years, and the selling dealers would presumably retain their servicing capabilities and warranty responsibilities. I'm not optimistic, but we might at least keep the existing service organizations.
My guess is that too many complications unraveled the deal, and that there is no ploy by Koeniggsegg -- stakes / risks seem just too high for that kind of corporate gamesmanship.
Couple of wildcard options: GM decides to keep or a dead Saab is retrieved at bargain-basement prices by one of the majors that wants a front-wheel drive car and the turbo technology. The latter prospect seems pretty dim, and I don't think the Chinese will go it alone (they have typically formed partnerships for earthmoving and const equip, engines, and on-highway trucks where they have sought Western markets -- although with a few exceptions). Tata an unlikely buyer based on experience with Jaguar and Range Rover.
My thoughts ...
