Other than looks, there is no real advantage to big rims on the street. OK, sure, there is a faster steering response, and with a wider contact patch ultimate lateral grip *may* be a bit better, but that's waaaay out at the limit of adhesion where you just don't go on public roads unless one is homicidal/suicidal or maybe in a few types of extreme accident avoidance maneuvers. Even then the difference is marginal and those maneuvers need some practice to really achieve.

This big wheel stuff is all for looks.

Then there's the cost. I was in a tire store and overheard an older couple learning how much new 19 or 20 tires would be on their Ford Expedition which had some big wheel option package. The sticker shock blew them away. It was probably cheaper to buy after market wheels and tires in a normal size.
