Suggestion to GM: Merge SAAB with Opel

GM should just merge SAAB and Opel. Call it SAAB-Opel. They can use the old SAAB-Scania emblem and just replace Scania with Opel. This merger will address the issue of SAAB already being integrated into GM. Everthing is shared anyway. Plus this will keep the cost of new SAABs in a reasonable range.
I think the 9-5 and 9-3 are great cars, and the new 9-5 looks very promising. Given that the new 9-5 is similar to the new Buick Lacrosse and the Opel Insignia anyway this makes reasonable sense to me.
Then SAAB is saved and becomes part of Opel and maintains GM's presence in Europe with both the SAAB and Opel brands. Scandinavian interior/exterior design and safety principles would continue to be applied to the SAAB brand to maintain distinctiveness.
As part of Opel, the number of vehicles manufactured and sold would be combined thereby enabling better profit margins. Plus, SAAB-Opel potentially would allow for a larger selection of models than just the 9-3 and 9-5.
In the end GM saves the brand and gives the customers what they want on the SAAB side and maintains profitability.
Any comments?
