What we are using (have 2 kids, one almost a year, the other almost 4) in our c900 sedans is Sunshine Kids Radian. I am also 6-1 + the back seat of a c900 is significantly smaller than the 9-5.

The SK car seats are outstanding! We had a Britax Marathon + got rid of it, SK fits way better in a Saab and is equally safe. Basically what makes them so good is 3 fold: 1)the bottom of the seat is contoured so it fits into the seat nicely (vs flat like Marathon), 2) the seating position is low, so a bigger child's feet + knees nest lower under the back of the front seats = a lot more leg room (vs high seating position like Marathon), and 3) the seat is narrow enough to fit 3 of them across the back seat of a c900, or 2 car seats + a comfortable adult (vs Marathon there was only ever room for 1 car seat back there: I once had to ride between 2 Marathons in a JEEP Grand Cherokee - it was absolute torture).

So right now, we've got a rear facing seat in the middle for the baby + front facing 4 year old behind the passenger, and an adult can comfortably fit behind the driver. The seat will go from about 5-65 lbs and has a tall back so it will last until your child is 5 (we tested it on our friends' 95th percentile height 5 year old + still fit). Beyond that it's a booster + they're cheap + easy to find narrow... Rear facing is tough in any seat + SK is a little tougher because it's tall, but that's short term: we used the bucket to 6 or 7 months (PegPerego, also narrow enough for 3), and switch to front facing at a year...

Oh, one more thing... Latch isn't inherently safer, it's just stastistically safer because it's easier to install correctly (ie correctly installed is safer than incorrectly installed + lots of people install things wrong). It's actually safer to mount the seat in the middle + not use latch, if you install it correctly (you can have that checked, usually for free), + that is what we do (never mind that our car doesn't have latch anyway, we've done the same in other cars)...

What we found is most car seats are designed for flat bench seats + minivans. They just don't work well in European cars. The SK seat fits 100x better in a Saab.

good luck!

James...
