I saw the 60 minutes peice as well. I didn't get the point either. There are many fuel cell companies out there, I work for UTC and we have a fuel cell division, and we sell them to industrial customers. I don't buy the statement that this "Bloom Box" is going to power your home. It runs on natural gas to produce electricity, so natural gas is going to power your home. Perhaps it is more efficient than the current electicity generation and distribution system, but they didn't talk about that. They did mention that this box would replace the electric grid, but then we would then need to expand the natural gas "grid". I don't think this is going to save the world any more than any other Fuel cell product will.
