91Aero.jr,
I know where you're coming from. If, as some people have said in this thread, VW never sent a 3-pedal R32 to the states, then you need to do your homework. Go buy the nicest Viggen you can find and get the front brace and perhaps some springs or shocks on it. EVERY Viggen has three pedals.
Now, to my own point. I understand that the best sequential manual gearboxes (SMG, PDK, etc etc) are faster at shifting, they even do the rev-matching, and they have no torque converters. I will admit that these setups are a huge improvement over "older" automatics, but until I make a living shaving tenths of a second off of my lap times, I don't particularly care how fast the new manu-matics are. I find great pleasure in doing my own rev-matching (be it double clutch or heel/toe style), and I LIKE the level of engagement that this entails. I can admit that Kobe Bryant is a better basketball player than I am, but that doesn't mean that I'll willing give up shooting hoops myself and "leave it to those that can do it better." The same goes for my driving. I'll choose to engage myself more in the driving experience rather than just tell the computer how I think I'd like it done.
I think it's too bad that so many people in the US don't even know how to drive a stick. It's okay that they don't, but I'd rather they at least know how if their license lets them.
Okay, enough from me...
~Peter
