Overqualified? Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Mon, 19 Apr 2010 21:22:23 In Reply to: Re: job interview conundrum, EGD [Profile/Gallery] , Mon, 19 Apr 2010 19:55:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
If you demonstrated that you know more than your potential managers (by answering questions that they had to look up), they may have the impression that you are "overqualified" for what you admitted is an "somewhat entry level position". Their big fear is that you will soon find something better and leave quickly (leaving them to go through the hiring process again), or they feel threatened by your competence (perhaps superior to theirs). Never mind that you may have been searching for a lengthy period and will accept just about anything, or that you might want a step down the ladder with less responsibilities.
In my career I have been on several all-day interviews and have never heard from the company again - complete disrespect for your time and feelings. Unfortunately, this is much more common than you would imagine.
