The host threw out the value of $1B for the cost of developing an entire new car such as the new 9-3. Victor replied that number was high, but the cost is still very substantial.
Later one of the columnists asked if the new 92 was still a distant dream. With a telling smirk Victor asked if that was based on info from a month ago. When asked to explain his smirk he would only say that progress is being made on development this vehicle by partnering with another manufacturer, this job is #2 on his priority list (#1 being a return to profitability), and that he wasn't allowed to say anymore.
My take on the above is that substantial progress has been made in negotiations with another manufacturing and an announcmeent may be forthcoming within a month. He also called the 9-2X a mistake and waxed poetically about the aerodynamics of the original 92 vehicle. So I guess we can expect a very aerodynamic small car that is 100% SAAB.
