OK, this ranks right next to "Does the refrigerator light really turn off when the door is closed?" question, but it is bugging my curiosity none the less.
My collection of US metric sockets all snap onto a 1/4-inch, 3/8-inch, or 1/2-inch drive ratchet. If I had purchased sockets in any of the European countries where the metric system (SI) has been used for decades, what is the size of the square tangs that the sockets mate with? Are socket wrenches available with 5mm, 10mm, and 13mm tangs, or has the US standard achieved global ubiquity?
My mind is already a cesspool of trivia - but what is one more nearly useless fact at this point.
