she notes that it's not quite ready to compete with others in its class--presumable Audi and BMW.
She mentions the Vauxhall Insignia which is shorter by 100mm. I drove one of those for 3 days in May and it was delightful. Turbo diesel with about 200 hp, so more poke than the Saab she had. She's right that the shift in the Insignia leaves something to be desired, but it's just that it's a bit rubbery. Not crisp enough, but not terrible either.
But all that said, I thought of the Vauxhall with it's great hatch a fine replacement for the Saab 9000. It's big enough (it's the Buick Regal here in 4-dr sedan trim) to be a 9K OR 9-5 replacement, but I also think it's not quite in Audi or Bimmer territory. But pretty close, and unless ego drives the purchase decision, is close enough. But that's the car I want here, not the sedan. Sigh.
