shipping itself is free if you go over $150 (I think, less in the US). I will find out soon enough what the brokerage charge is if I can't self-clear it... last time I think it was closer to $30 for a >$300 order (iirc)... maybe $50 tops? still not bad when the shipping is free. As long as the brokerage is not too much, I'm ok with it... even $50 shipping for an exhaust system (my last order) seems pretty reasonable to me... the whole system barely cost more than a muffler for the car locally!
That said, I do hate UPS - way worse than any other courier. Lots of damage, lots of "fees", take longer than average to transport, and to top it off have an awkward delivery system where they attempt to deliver during the day when you're not home, then require you to call them to hold it at the depot (which takes at least 1 business day for them to achieve), which is located in the middle of nowhere, and when you get there, after waiting in line (of people angry at UPS) for ages, they still can't find it. Oh, and it's broken... I avoid UPS like the plague... Fedex, Purolator, USPS, are all a million times better.
fortunately car parts are mostly pretty tough + eeuro is fantastic so I am willing to forgive them + buy there in spite of UPS...
