Well, I just have to chime in here...having had 6 Saabs over the last 20 plus years, 1 '87 900, 5-9K's, and now driving a '09 Subaru Imprezza as my daily driver, 100 mi/day. I would say stay away from the Audi...it's a rich mans car to repair off warranty. The Subaru will get the job done at the expense of performance and creature comforts, but those don't do you any good while it's in the shop! Having said all that, I would rather be driving a Saab 9K in the wintertime than the Subaru. The Subaru beats a 9K from 0 to 20 MPH on a bad road but thats where it ends. Over 20 MPH, (out of your driveway) a 9K will just eat up the Subaru in wintertime handling. Did I mention that ALL of these afore mentioned cars have had studded Nokian's on all 4 corners...even the Subaru? I'd try to find a cheap down country 9K and be sure to equip it with some decent snow tires.
And I mean DECENT snow tires...don't beleive all the add hype and or Tire Rack reviews about snow tires... ask a Vermonter who has to go no mater what the conditions...
