This would work less well than continual threshold acceleration (keeping the power just below the point of losing grip), just as ABS works less well than threshold braking (but is much easier and more reliable in a panic situation, which is why it's such a good thing to have). Even the worst ABS pulses multiple times per second, and the the better ABS pulses many times per second. I would say you got up the hill almost in spite of the technique, rather than because of it.
