2 years ago we had over 10ft accumulation... made me happy, but I know it's not for everybody, that's for sure! I grew up on the east cost + still love it there, but I don't miss all the freezing rain etc... once it's cold here, it's cold...

Your "traction device" was a good idea. I should have thought of that a few years ago, the one time I got stuck in one of our c900s (something for you to laugh at): I was being a hooligan in an empty back parking lot that was "partially plowed" - about 4-6" deep of uniformly semi-packed snowplow snow. So I was doing some big fast U turns in it... I was about to leave, and thought I'd do 1 last go at it because it was so much fun (you know how this ends)... little did I know that the depth wedged upwards at the back end of the lot + I went in deeper for my last U turn... oops! the car rode up the wedge like a sled + then once I lost momentum, whomp... the snow underneath went from semi compressed to fully compressed! I was mildly concerned by this, but whatever, it always works to just back straight out, no problem... haha, not this time - no progress, a little more power, no progress, attempt to "rock it", nothing, a little more power, wheels spin... turns out it was a sheet of thick ice under the semi packed snow + the entire bottom of the car was caked with hard packed snow like concrete in every contour of the body + suspension... even if the wheels were on dry pavement I couldn't have backed out of that without damaging the car!

your approach would have been an awesome solution - jack the body up out of the mess... instead... I ended up breaking the plastic shovel I had in the trunk trying to shovel out, walking home, walking back with a metal shovel, + then spending half an hour digging to get it free enough to back out safely without tearing out the exhaust! that said, it was totally worth it - I know I'm an idiot, but I love playing with this car in snow! I often say I'd rather have a little more clearance than AWD, but in reality, more clearance +/or AWD would have just got me stuck deeper ;-)...

(note I would not drive like that on roads/places with other cars/people etc, this was a large abandoned/empty parking lot where a store had been dumping snow from other parking lots at one end)

James...
