SAAB Cars North America has revealed plans to boost the efficiency of its US supply chain.

The vehicle manufacturer disclosed that it has signed up to OEConnection, an online parts and service exchange for the automotive industry, to enhance parts supply chain performance and meet growing demands for faster parts fulfillment.

Under the terms of the agreement OEConnection will provide D2DLink - a web-based parts marketing and sourcing solution ? to Saab's network of approximately 200 independently-owned and franchised dealerships throughout the United States.

Serving as a virtual parts warehouse, the car maker said it will use D2DLink to allow Saab dealership parts departments to locate, buy, sell and market parts to fellow retailers throughout Saab's US dealerships.

Gary Dagesse, national sales manager for Saab Cars North America (SCNA), said: "Saab's previous experiences with the D2DLink solution were very beneficial and ultimately increased parts sales and improved customer satisfaction."

He added that the agreement "represents an integral part of our growth strategy and demonstrates our commitment to improving Saab Cars North America's parts supply chain infrastructure."

The online parts supply network solution from OEConnection is scheduled to rollout to Saab Cars Automobile USA's independently-owned and franchised dealerships this month.

Charles Rotuno, OEConnection President & CEO, added: "By utilising D2DLink, Saab dealers will create a virtual parts inventory, accessible at any time from any location, and capable of improving dealer responsiveness and overall performance."
