Trailer lights work with engine off, not on Posted by IanC [Email] (#139) [Profile/Gallery] (more from IanC) on Sat, 3 Sep 2011 04:08:14 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I had to replace the connector on my utility trailer due to squirrel/chipmunk chewing on the wires.
With the new connector, everything works fine with the engine off with key in accessory position. As soon as I turn on the engine, I get nothing from any light.
Not a lot on the internet about this problem, but some suggestion a poor ground can cause lights to work with low current but not work with higher current (which I would assume is happening here).
Any insight/suggestions would be much appreciated before I start to go through the wiring, one by one. Tow vehicle is a 2004 9-5 Aero SW with dealer installed trailer wiring that's never been a problem before.
