oil delivery tube o-rings replacement ?

(This is about a 2.0 in a 9-3, but it applies to any Saab 2.0 or 2.3 engine, so I'm asking it here).
I pulled my pan to do a sludge check/clean. I (somewhat accidentally) pulled down the oil delivery tube at the rear side of the engine while cleaning the old gasket material from the block. The o-ring there is kind of hard and a little misshappen (75K miles). Link to diagram below, it's #5.
Questions:
- I'm thinking that I should get a new o-ring for this... it seems to me that oil delivery through the pipe would be critical. Then again, there's nothing even holding this pipe in besides the o-ring... seems kind of casual for an oil delivery pipe. Is this a "replace it or you're an idiot" item?
- At the other end of the pipe there is, according to the diagram, another o-ring. Can I just pull the pipe down, then out, and replace that o-ring too? Or do I need to pull the oil-filter mount off... and if so, are there more gaskets or o-rings I should replace when I do that?
Are these o-rings special composition i.e. I need one designed for oil/engine use and one from the hardware store, or even the local auto parts store, is a bad idea?
Thanks,
