Majic speed button - my first Saab ride- long Posted by GFW3pedals [Email] ![]() ![]() |
I got a good chuckle and a warm remembrance of my 1st ride in a Saab. See the local AD below, maybe I'm wrong but I know of no special speed button on the shifter for extra speed?
I was about 16, and the only rides I ever had was in my dad's Buick LeSabre, VW bus, and Ford Econoline van, my brothers Ford Torino & Buick Electra (monster) all of the 60s and 70s vintages and all tanks. My 1st ride in anything close to a performance or sports car was my older friends Saab Sonett III, a car in itself I had never seen nor heard of before, much less rode in. I was amazed at this little car and how it looked, felt and sounded. Being so close to the ground added the illusion of speed even though we weren't going all that fast, but then my freind Bill, pushed one of the obviously non working buttons on the dash and floored it, telling me it was a "boost button" and I believed it wholeheartedly. I'm still laughing 30 yrs later. I don't know how he at age 18 or so,was driving a Sonett,I think his parents were Saab people and had '99s. Now, partly because of that ride, 2 Sonett's , a 96,99T,9000T and current 9-5 ive had the pleasure ( most of the time ) to own and drive.
THE AD : I'm selling my 2000 Saab Aero Turbo, 4 door, silver in color, has 99, 850 miles! Comes with: ABS, power windows, power locks, power sunroof, power side mirrors, traction control, and a speed button on the shifter for a faster speed boost when driving! The car has no rust and is clean and solid inside and out! I just got the car inspected on the 2nd of Sept - so their is no problems with it! I'm asking 4,500 - so if interested - please call
