seriously, I'm waiting for "Reality" to chime in here... he's been quiet for a while!

GM has to do what makes sense for GM's business. I don't fault them one bit here. I was very concerned even with the first announcements wrt Pang Da that there would be problems, if nothing else because BAIC already was working with Saab as part of that legacy technology/tooling acquisition... definitely murky waters possible with that!

VM is a lawyer. He's doing alright all things considered. The supply management problems though were a failure in business 101. He now heads a startup. The first thing he needed to do was get venture capital on board + he was too slow... that is why the supply shortage + that is why the trouble now... but easy for us to say, not being there!

in terms of the Chinese + trade surpluses/deficits... well, if we'd all buy less cheap junk from China it wouldn't be an issue. There are companies that produce great products + don't outsource everything for the cheapest labour... if you care, buy those instead! trouble is the overwhelming culture here does not care... we all want too much stuff, + cheap! that's the root cause...
