If I suddenly needed to replace my 2000 9-5 I would search for a low mileage used 2008 or 2009 model. I read lots of statements regarding the legality of continuing warranty coverage but there are two HUGE differences with Saab as compared to the demise of Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Saturn, Hummer, Plymouth, Mercury, et al.
1) The parent company will no longer exist (although I keep hoping this will not be the case) and therefore cannot be invoiced for service work.
2) The parent company is a foreign company and therefore may not be subject to some of the US comnsumer protection regulations.
The situation for us Saab owners is more like the situation faced by owners of DeLorean, Bricklin, and (dare I say it) Yugo automobiles.
Our best hope is the creation of something akin to British Heritage which sprang up to produce and distribute service parts for the plethora of British sports car brands which all seemed to die out in the 1980-81 recession.
