It's a very well documented fact that sales of small economical cars (as well as diesels, hybrids etc)go down when gas prices are low and up when they rise. So the argument that low gas prices are having an effect on sales is perfectly valid. If gas were $6 they'd be selling, if it were $10 a gallon there'd be a waiting list. At this moment, a plug in hybrid like the Volt is about the best technology generally available (though better stuff is coming). People who drive a lot of miles would probably do better with a diesel, but for most the plugin aspect makes it superior to Prius (non plugin version)and would work well. My last commute was 12 miles each way (and the rest of my driving was shorter distances) so I could have went for mouths without using any gas at all. And unlike a pure electric I'd have the option of driving longer distances without having another car. I've never been a huge fan of GM, but I think the Volt is on the cutting edge and I'd like to think I can put prejudiced and narrow minded thinking aside and give credit where credit is due. Shutting down GM? What exactly are you smoking?
