Grass cuttings, what to do with them. Normally I wouldn't care Id just cut the grass and let them fly all over the lawn, however this situation is a tad bit different. during spring and summer my lawn tends to grow super fast. How fast' in one week the grass is at my ankles and if let go for two weeks it grows to just below my knees. I cant get at the lawn every week even though I`d like to, it seems Im able to tend to it every other week and everytime I have this huge stockpile of grass cuttings.the Lawn mower I use has a catcher bag and I'm having to have to empty it every 4 to 8 min. I started to bag the stuff but after the 3rd 32 gallon bag was full and the lawn wasn't even 3/4ths the way cut I started emptying out my lawnmower bag out back in the woods. Now the front yard is cut and I have this huge pile of grass cuttings in the woods and 3 32gallon bags of it going to the dump, but thats not it.. I need to cut my back yard and its bigger than the front yard and the grass is above my knees. Im drowning in Grass here.. 'what the heck..
I searched online for an answer and all I find is people saying to just leave the cuttings on the lawn, as to mow it with out the catcher bag. If i did that the grass growing couldn't see the light of day. there would be a foot of cut grass laying on top of the lawn.
Can this stuff be used for any purpose, and how fast dose my huge mound of grass going to biodegrad in the woods, should I be concerned that it would get dried out and become the biggest fire hazard?
