I ordered a new laptop for personal use since the computer we travel with, when we take it, is actually my work laptop that I will be relinquishing when I retire in a few weeks. TigerDirect has a great deal today on a version of the machine I was looking for - much cheaper than their website price last night. Their security is a little scary though.
During the order process their website returns with three pre-formatted security questions to verify your identity. Each question is multiple choice and the questions they asked me were:
1) Which of the following five hospitals is closest to your home? (This one was actually tough)
2) You previously lived on xxxx street, which of the following house numbers was your address? (We moved from there 30+ years ago!)
3) In which month and year shown listed below did you purchase your Saab 9-3? (See, this is a Saab related post.)
TigerDirect's security system ALREADY KNEW the correct answers to these three questions and was quizzing me to see if I was who I represented myself to be. They state they obtain all answers from public records but it was still unsettling that these mundane trivia facts regarding my life are so quickly accessible.
