Vacation cabin rental agreement with credit card CVV

I just received a rental agreement from the CO cabin I was planning on renting this summer.
I've done this a half-dozen times, and I don't ever remember a request like this one.
"We also require a credit card to be kept on file - in the event that damages to the property exceed the damage deposit."
The agreement includes a place for me to give card number, AND the CVV (Security Code), with "This card MUST remain valid through the term of the lease and twenty-one (21) days after the lease term. A nominal fee of one dollar ($1.00) may be charged to the card and then refunded to determine if
this card is valid." HUH?
Has anybody seen this before?
They require a $500 deposit. Certainly they have insurance, or other legal recourse if I do more than $500 damage.
I suppose I could try to open a new account real quick, with low limit, and then cancel after the rental.
This seems crazy to me.
