I own a JD x534 with 48 inch deck. This is my second year on a hilly 3 acres of VT farmland with some trees, rock walls, split rail fences, etc. Tractor is great on hills, works very fast and has been reliable and trouble free, but the 4 wheel steering has some characteristics which you should be aware of. Yes, you can cut tight circles around trees. However, the steering is very sensitive. You have to be careful and go slower when mowing right next to fences and walls. Small steering wheel movement can cause unexpected contact. If you have an attachment like the power bagger on the rear, you also have to allow extra clearance to avoid attachment contact when turning near a fence or wall because of the 4 wheel steering lateral movement of the rear end when turning. The mower deck does not cut level on tight turns, even if the deck is set perfectly level. It will cut lower as much as 1 inch on one side of a tight turn. I found on the Web that this is due to the design of the rear end. If you go too fast and turn too tightly, the deck will scalp and the deck guide wheels can sometimes dig into the grass. You also have to be careful of scalping when turning across a slope. I probably don't have as many trees as you do and I've adjusted to the quirks, so overall the mower is great for me. I can't speak to the X534 for snow clearing. I owned two good snow blowers before I bought the x534, so I'm still using them for clearing my drive. I might get the JD front snow blower attachment when they die. I hear that using a blade for snow clearing doesn't work well. For any snow work you would need chains and perhaps weights for traction. I need the tractor because of the hills. If your property is flat, you might prefer a zero turn machine and a snow blower.
